An Invitation to a Daily Rhythm of Faith

The Christmas season often arrives with a rush of schedules, noise, and overwhelming to-do lists.

Advent: Songs of the First Christmas is your invitation to pause, breathe, and anchor your heart in the biblical story of Christ’s coming.

Centered on the powerful songs and declarations of Luke 1–2, this 4-week guided experience brings ancient Christian rhythms into your modern everyday life.

Why "Songs of the First Christmas"?

The decision to focus on the "Songs of the First Christmas" stems from the structure of Luke 1–2, where the narrative of Jesus' birth is woven with four spontaneous outbursts of praise, prophecy, and declaration.

Each song draws directly from Old Testament promises, linking Abraham’s covenant, David’s throne, and prophetic visions of redemption to the birth of Christ.

Rather than approaching Advent through secondary author commentary, this study roots daily reflection in scripture and the historical tradition of fixed-hour prayer.

Whether you are seeking quiet personal reflection, a family devotional, or a small group study, this series provides simple, flexible tools to connect faith and life.

The 3-Part Weekly Experience

Advent: Songs of the First Christmas is structured so you can engage at your own pace, wherever you are. Each week centers around three intentional steps:

READ

Manageable & Deep: Each week features 1 curated reading selection (~15 minutes of audio or ~5 pages of text), allowing you ample time to meditate on the text throughout the week rather than rushing through new chapters daily.

Scripture Saturation: Every reading weaves together a Psalm, an Old Testament passage, and a New Testament passage to show God's redemption story unfolding.

REFLECT

Rich Sidebars: Explore traditional prayers, curated worship music recommendations, and classic works of visual art.

Embodied Worship: Connect with God through the creative expression of songwriters, painters, and poets who illuminate the Word in fresh ways.

RESPOND

Faith & Faithfulness: Conclude each week with structured reflections designed for personal growth or group discussion.

Intentional Action: Move beyond basic comprehension into worship, repentance, obedience, and structured prayer, including learning how to write a traditional collect (a structured scriptural prayer featured in the workbook appendix).
